2023 Shootout Class Rules

Quick 32 Class (QK)

Tree Type: 0.400 Pro light 

Ladder Type: Pro Ladder 

Qualifying: Ranked from quickest to slowest elapsed times in qualifying 

Weigh-In: Not Required 

Staging: Courtesy staging enforced 

Deep Staging: Permitted 

Race Format: Single-elimination, heads-up racing 

Field Size: Up to 32 cars per field 

Class Requirements 

  • •Vehicle must run an Engine Diaper or catch-pan  
  • •Vehicles must run distilled water only for engine coolant  
  • •Quickest 16 Team Mitsu vs. 16 Quickest Team Non-Mitsu  

 

AWD Vehicles 

  • •Any Mitsubishi-powered AWD, 4-cylinder or V6 Mitsubishi engine 
  • •Any non-Mitsu AWD, 4-cylinder or 5-cylinder engine 
  • •FWD to AWD Conversion are allowed (i.e. Honda Civic AWD) 

 

RWD Vehicles 

  • •Any vehicle originally equipped with a 4-cylinder or 5-cylinder engine. 
  • •For all OEM RWD platforms, IRS rearend must be maintained. Exception for torque tube drivelines (i.e. Starquest, RX7, Miata) 
  • •For OEM AWD vehicles, aftermarket solid axle conversions are permitted. 
  • •Back-halved RWD 4-link or ladder bars OK 

 

Permitted/Not-Permitted Modifications 

  • •TURBO: Any
  • •CHASSIS: Factory unibody/frame, no tube frame but tube front end ahead of shock towers OK 
  • •EXHAUST: Any 
  • •LEXAN: OK 
  • •SEATS: Only driver seat required 
  • •TRANSMISSION: Any 
  • •Wheelie Bars: OK 
  • •FUEL: Race gas, E85, Race Ethanol and Methanol

Street 32 Class (ST)

Deep Staging: Permitted Race Format: Single-elimination, heads-up racing

Class Requirements

  • •Vehicles must retain the stock strut towers and firewall.

  • •FUEL: Race gas, E85, Race Ethanol (NO METHANOL)

Street Eliminator(SE)

Deep Staging: Permitted 

Race Format: Single-elimination, heads-up racing 

Field Size: Up to 32 cars per field 

Class Requirements 

  • •Vehicle must run an Engine Diaper or catch-pan 
  • •Vehicles must run distilled water only for engine coolant 
  • •Vehicles must retain the stock strut towers and firewall. 
  • •Open to the following vehicles: 
    • FWD/AWD Eclipse/Talon or Laser (1G or 2G) 
    • AWD Galant VR-4 o Evolution VII, VIII, IX, X 
    • Genesis Coupe o Stealth/3000 GT Coupe 
  • •Vehicles must run the Mitsubishi/GEA engine 
  • •Full-interior required with exceptions outlined in Permitted Modifications below. Full interior to include all seats, door panels, rear hatch cover on DSM’s along with carpet, head liner and dash. Factory dash pad required, but HVAC and radio controls may be deleted and replaced with a block off plate, digital dash or additional gauges. 
 

Permitted/Not-Permitted Modifications 

  • •TURBO: Any 
  • •NITROUS-OXIDE: Permitted 
  • •EXHAUST: Full-exhaust system that exits at the rear of the vehicle with the wastegates dumping UNDER the car is preferred. Hood exit/fender exit for either the main exhaust and/or the wastegate dumps is allowed when a catch-pan is fitted. 
  • •SEATS: Both front seats must be present. 
  • •TIRES: Slicks permitted 
  • •FUEL: No vehicle in this class may run methanol. Permitted fuels are pump gas, racing gasoline, E85 or racing ethanol-fuel blends.

DCT 8.5 Index(DCT)

Qualifying: Ranked from closest to furthest from 8.5-second index in qualifying

Deep Staging: Permitted Race Format: Single-elimination, heads-up racing 

Field Size: Up to 32 cars per field 

Class Requirements

  • •Open to any vehicle with DCT transmission
  • •Vehicle must run an Engine Diaper or catch-pan
  • •Vehicles must run distilled water only for engine coolant

  • • NITROUS OXIDE: permitted 
  • •EXHAUST: Any
  • • SUSPENSION: Any 
  • •TIRES: Any tire permitted. 
  • •FUEL: Permitted fuels are pump gas, racing gasoline, methanol, E85 or racing ethanol fuel blends.

Stock Appearing (SA)

Class Requirements 

  • •Open to the following vehicles: 
    • FWD/AWD Eclipse/Talon or Laser (1G or 2G) 
    • AWD Galant VR-4 o Evolution VII, VIII, IX, X 
    • Genesis Coupe o Stealth/3000 GT Coupe 
 

Permitted/Not-Permitted Modifications 

  • •TURBO: Must use a stock bolt pattern turbine inlet and must be positioned in the stock location. FP Zero, Green, Red, Black and HTA DSM86s are legal for the class. FP/TiAL turbine housings using a TiAL external wastegate are allowed. 
  • •NITROUS-OXIDE: Not permitted 
  • •EXHAUST: Must exit at rear bumper. Sheet metal O2 housings with recirculating or open dumps are OK. External dumps UNDER vehicle only. 
  • •INTERCOOLER: Front-mount intercooler (FMIC) and intercooler pipe upgrades are allowed.
  • •BOVs: Blow-off-valve upgrades are allowed. 
  • •INTAKES: Turbo inlet pipe upgrades and filter upgrades OK 
  • •INTAKE MANIFOLD: OEM or aftermarket allowed w/ single throttle 
  • •MAF: MAF upgrades allowed. Deletion MAF OK with SD conversion 
  • •BATTERY: Battery kits and lithium battery upgrades are allowed. 
  • •SEATS: Racing bucket front seats OK. Both front seats required. If a roll bar, roll cage or harness bar is installed, delete OK of portion of the seat required to properly mount the bar in place. 
  • •TIRES: DOT Tire Only 
  • •FUEL: Pump gas, race gas, E85 or racing ethanol-fuel blends.

RB/JZ Class

  • •Vehicle may be AWD, RWD or AWD conversion

  • •No full-tube frame vehicles

Supra A90 Heads Up (A90)

BRACKET (BR)

Vehicle must be a Mitsubishi or a vehicle powered by a Mitsubishi 4G63, Mitsubish 4B11 or Nissan RB25/RB26/RB30 engine. GR Supra, GR86 and GR Corolla also eligible. No delay boxes, throttle stops or electronic starting line aids allowed (two-step OK). Winner payout is $300 with runner-up earning $150.
