CONFIRMED – Chris Esquivel @ IDRC West Coast Nats – PB: 10.2 @ 146 mph
Chris “Specs” Esquivel submitted his entry for the IDRC West Coast Nationals event, racing in his 1993 Honda Civic hatchback. Esquivel had previously raced a CRX at IDRC. This will be his first effort behind the wheel of this new build. The turbocharged, 1,956cc B-series engine built by Sean Tomosada puts power down through a transmission built by Aaron Tomosada. Esquivel commented, “Sean built the car, and I race it. We have a simple setup, nothing too crazy. The goal of the build was to build something to have fun with, and that’s what it has become. The Civic inherited a lot of hand-me-down parts from Fat Kid (Aaron), which helped to keep cost in check. I love racing, the adrenaline rush is awesome. It’s very helpful to have the support of a racing family, on the track and off. In this way, I am blessed.” Esquivel would like to highlight and thank his sponsors at Golden Eagle, Insane Shafts, JDM Concepts, Rywire, FAT KID, Import Auto Pros, Stanton Automotive & Fabrication, Zero4Racing and ESA Design for their continued support of his racing efforts.
